Job Description
To support our continued and exciting growth, we are looking for a Compliance Officer to join our team. The successful candidate will support the design, development, implementation, maintenance and continual improvement of our Integrated Management System (IMS), ensuring compliance with internationally recognised standards and organisational requirements.
The role will be responsible for maintaining existing certifications, including ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 27001, ISO 45001 and ISO/IEC 20000, while supporting the development and implementation of new management systems and certification programmes. Working closely with stakeholders across the business, the Compliance Officer will develop management system documentation, coordinate audit activities, identify opportunities for continual improvement and help embed a culture of compliance, quality and effective governance throughout the organisation.
This role is suited to someone with practical experience of management systems and ISO standards who is looking to further develop their career in compliance, quality, governance, information security, health and safety and service management.
Key responsibilities:
- Design, development and continual enhancement of the organisation’s Management Systems, ensuring it supports business growth, operational effectiveness and recognised standards.
- Coordinate the implementation, maintenance, surveillance and recertification of multiple ISO certifications, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO/IEC 27001 and ISO/IEC 20000.
- Translate ISO, regulatory and business requirements into effective governance frameworks, processes, controls and management system documentation.
- Provide oversight of internal audits, external certification audits, management reviews and associated assurance activities.
- Drive the effective management of risks, opportunities, non-conformities, corrective actions and continual improvement programmes.
- Work with management and teams across the business to embed compliance and ensure management system requirements are understood and applied.
- Develop meaningful compliance reporting, KPIs and management information to support senior leadership decision-making.
- Monitor changes in legislation, regulation and recognised standards, assessing their impact and ensuring the organisation remains compliant.
- Promote a culture of quality, assurance and continual improvement across the organisation.
Experience Required:
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a Compliance, Quality, Governance or Management Systems role.
- Experience designing, developing, implementing and improving Integrated Management Systems.
- Experience coordinating multiple ISO certifications, including audit preparation, surveillance and recertification activities.
- Practical knowledge of ISO standards, including ISO 9001, ISO/IEC 27001, ISO 45001 and ISO/IEC 20000.
- Experience supporting or coordinating internal and external audits, corrective actions, non-conformities and continual improvement activities.
- Ability to interpret standards and translate requirements into practical business processes, controls and management system documentation.
- Strong organisational, analytical, communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
Desirable
- Previous experience in an administrative, compliance, quality, governance, IT service, health and safety, or information security support role.
- Experience with integrated management systems and supporting multiple ISO standards.
- Exposure to ISO certification, audit preparation, internal audits or management system documentation.
- Awareness of document control, risk registers, corrective action tracking and continuous improvement processes.
- Experience using SharePoint, document management systems, compliance platforms or ticketing systems.
- Experience in a regulated industry.
- Experience delivering training or facilitating workshops.
- Interest in building a career in compliance, quality assurance, governance, risk, information security or service management
Qualifications
Essential
- ISO awareness training or an Internal Auditor qualification in at least one relevant standard, such as ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO/IEC 27001 or ISO/IEC 20000.
- Good working knowledge of management systems, audit processes, document control and corrective action management.
Desirable
- Internal Auditor qualifications
- A relevant qualification in Compliance, Quality, Health and Safety, Information Security or Service Management.
